There is no Cold!

"There is no cold, there is no fear, your past is over and God makes all things new today for you. You are God's beloved son in whom He is well pleased." These were my words to the baptism candidate in the photo.
After teaching on the Foundation Course at Miracle Bible College's Annual Camp on the beach at Melkbosstrand, a young student decided to get baptized. He is someone that contacted me last year regarding MBC and found himself at a crossroads - he had to decide between studying law on bursary at a prominent local university, and coming to our Bible College from a different church. I explained to him how I had given up my bursary options at a well known University overseas and how God has found a way to instruct me through a global network of church friends, churches and organizations. GRACE - God's Riches At Christ's Expense has so much more to offer than the world. God made all things new for me, including the sport he asked me to offer up early on, and now I can use my experience and talents as tools in His hand for the extension of His kingdom in hearts and minds. For instance, I played cricket with our new friends in Harvester Vaalwater on the weekend. Yesterday, we played beach soccer with our new group of students from South Africa to Tanzania - look out MBC Cup of Missions this year - we have some players to reckon with on the field! Everything you give up for God comes back to you 100 fold with persecutions in this life and the life to come. Yes I had people who said I wasted my talent, but those same people eventually admitted how God used me to have a positive influence on the same sport through coaching and mentoring later on. Moses laid down his staff of Egyptian achievement at the burning bush with God, and God showed him the snake it had become. When he picked it up on the tail God turned it upside down and it was no longer the staff of Moses but the rod of God for defeating His enemies and leading His people into their promised land. That is part of the greater riches that Moses experienced as Hebrews tells us:

Heb 11:25  choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,
Heb 11:26  esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
Heb 11:27  By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.

Apostle Leigh Collins captured our moment just before baptism with stunning back-light on his phone - well done! You can see the body tense up as we hit the cold Atlantic see water that makes you gasp for your breath. "There is no cold!"
